Charles Grinnell is the Chief Operating Officer at Harvest Automation, a Boston-based startup company where he overseas all aspects of developing autonomous mobile robots for a range of agricultural applications. Charles founded Harvest Automation in 2008 with a group of robotic innovators and a goal of solving critical industrial challenges with a new breed of robots. Harvest recently commercially released the first practical, scalable robots that work alongside humans solving critical labor issues in horticulture production. This platform will also help growers reduce costs and environmental impact while increasing plant quality. The company is beginning to target other Ag sectors beyond horticulture with similar innovations. Before founding Harvest Charles served as General Manager at DEKA R&D working with one of the worlds leading inventors, Dean Kamen, on a wide range of medical and industrial products including the Segway human transporter. Prior to DEKA Charles was the President of a consulting company he founded at CERN (European Center for Nuclear Research) in Geneva, Switzerland developing specialized instrumentation for the high-energy physics community around the world.
