Biography:
Dr. Sama has worked on unmanned systems since 2004 including low-cost remote sensing platforms for precision agriculture, high-altitude testing of deployable UAV components, and several UAV design teams as a student and a faculty advisor. His primary area of interest is the development of sensors and control systems for precision agriculture. He currently conducts research on variable-rate technology, distributed control systems, spatial measurement technology, sensors for in-situ compost management, and the use of UAVs to study the influence of seed spacing and nitrogen availability on row-crop development. He earned his B.S. degree in Computer and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and M.S./Ph.D. degrees in Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering from the University of Kentucky.
